India’s First Alloy Steel Plant to Receive 5-Star Green Steel Certification

R L Steels & Energy Ltd. has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first and only alloy steel plant in India to be awarded the prestigious 5-Star Green Steel Certification by the National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology (NISST), Ministry of Steel, Government of India.

The certification recognizes R L Steels & Energy Ltd.’s exceptional commitment to sustainable manufacturing and environmental responsibility, marking a new chapter in India’s steel industry.

A Benchmark for Sustainable Steel Production

During the financial year 2024–25, our Chittegaon (Maharashtra) plant produced alloy and carbon steel bars with an average emission intensity of 1.0967 tCO₂e/tfs, achieving 50.2% greenness in compliance with the Government of India’s Green Steel standards (Notification No. 1(6)-2024-ID-2 dated 23-12-2024).

This achievement places R L Steels at the forefront of India’s green steel revolution, setting new benchmarks for the industry in carbon reduction, resource optimization, and circular economy practices.
